KNOWLEDGE PRODUCTION IN CURRENT TURKISH ARCHITECTURE MAGAZINES: AN ANALYSIS OF SUBJECT MATTER AND CONTENT
This paper examines the current issues of major Turkish contemporary architecture magazines in order to shed light upon the many different ways that academics, practitioners, and others contribute to them. In turn, the content of the architectural knowledge produced by these magazines is discussed. Hence, the study provides a comprehensive retrospective research on current Turkish architecture magazines “XXI”, “Yapı”, “Arredemento Mimarlık”, and “Mimarlık”, which initiates a broader discussion regarding the place and contribution of these publications to the knowledge production and to the development of the discipline of architecture in Turkey. Content analysis is the method used to analyze over 240 issues covering a five-year period in terms of two broad themes: 1. Authorship 2. Subject Matter and Content.
